Jean Georges is among the elite American Chefs in the United States.  He sits with Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Masa Takayama.  Those four have been the cornerstone of American fine dining for more than two decades.  They have produce and hardened countless renowned chefs in the United States.  Here are JG’s awards:  Jean Georges New York.

The decor

The restaurant is located right across from Central Park.  There are two large windows in the restaurants providing direct sunlight into the restaurant.  One of the windows provides a direct view of Central Park.  Jean Georges is a lively and vibrant restaurant with its white table clothes and neutral colors.  It’s definitely an oasis from New York’s bright lights like how the desert is for Vegas.  Jean Georges New York.

The service was superb.  The wait staff was amazing and really made my dining experience exceptional.  They always came by to check up on me with their large Colgate smiles.  In addition, they did a fantastic job of explaining the dish’s preparation and ingredients.  My water and drinks were never empty.  They both deserve a raise and a promotion.  Jean Georges New York.

Now, the main event — the tasting menu.  Jean Georges serves a two course prix fix menu and a five to six course tasting menu..  I decided to go with the tasting menu.  Here were my favorites:

  • Caviar – Caviar was served on top of Parisienne Potatoes.  The caviar was absolutely amazing and wasn’t overwhelmingly salty.  The potatoes had a soft yet firm texture; it looked like the dessert cause it was served in a champagne glass. Jean Georges New York.

  • Suckling Pig –  The Suckling Pig came with beets.  The colorful dish reminded me of a paint canvas with all of its colors; the Pig had a nice crispy outer shell with tenderness meat.  It was seasoned with sea salt which made every bite a delight.  Jean Georges New York.

  • Cod – The Cod was slow cooked.  It was served with a Herbal-Lime Vinaigrette and Spring Lettuce Puree then it was topped with a cracker that resembled a Vietnamese Sesame Baked Rice Cracker.  The lean cod had a mild taste yet it was very delicate in texture.  It broke apart into large flakes as I ate it.  Jean Georges New York.

Lastly, Jean Georges was a great experience from the service to food to the ambiance.  Jean Georges is definitely one of the more budget friendly 3 Michelin starred restaurants in New York.  It offers an a la carte menu in addition to tasting menus.  If you don’t want the tasting menu, there’s a two course prix fix menu.  However, I would recommend going with the tasting menu to get a full taste of what the restaurant has to offer.  Jean Georges New York.

Summary

The restaurant is located right across from Central Park. It offers an a la carte menu in addition to tasting menus. If you don’t want the tasting menu, there’s a two course prix fix menu. However, I would recommend going with the tasting menu to get a full taste of what the restaurant has to offer. I would highly recommend them.
