The Asian Fusion restaurant is the sister restaurant to Guernsey Park. Guernsey Park is considered one of the best restaurants in Oklahoma City and it has been making splashes since it first opened its door.  The Guernsey Park owners decided to ride the wave with a follow-up restaurant across town — Covell Park.  It’s only natural to take advantage of Guernsey Park‘s success.

The restaurant is located on the other side of town.  It’s a strip mall next to other trendy retail shops selling Yoga attire and rock climbing equipment.  The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with its fireplace and bar area.  The fireplace is accompanied with a sofa and it acts as a lounge area as patrons wait for their table.  In addition, there’s bar that stretches across half the restaurant.

The service was great.  The wait staff were properly trained; they showed their knowledge about the menu.  In addition, they all had the Midwest charm and hospitality.  It’s a nice change from the usual Asian restaurant service I get in the Southern California area.  The authentic Southern California Asian restaurant could careless if you’re there or not.  Before my meal, I decided to have a few drinks.  The bartender was extremely sweet and accommodating to all my requests.

Now, the food.  Covell Park has a large menu filled with Asian Fusion dishes.  I’m not going to discuss all the plates but only my favorite ones.  To be honest, I really enjoyed every item I got to taste.

  1. Lollipop Chicken – Tallequah Free Range Chicken with a side of pickles.  The chicken was topped with orange chili gastrique added flavor to its crispy batter.  The chicken came out perfectly cooked with all the right elements — piping hot and juicy.  The Lollipops were tender, salted correctly and addicting to eat.  It’s a great appetizer to start.

  2. Fried Brussels Sprouts – The Fried Brussels Sprouts were a nice dish.  The tasty sprouts were coated with caramel adding a flavor to its composition.  The Brussels Sprouts were crispy with an added sweetness to it.   I don’t usually veggies in my meal but Covell Park’s Brussel Sprouts had me asking for more.

  3. Carpaccio – The Carpaccio was partial cooked.  It was seared tenderloin topped with chili, nuoc mam and garlic chips.  The sauce and garlic chips really brought out the flavors of the beef. The beef’s textures provided a nice contrast to the garlic chips; the garlic chips had a sharp taste to the dish.

Lastly, I definitely recommend Covell Park if you’re ever in the OKC area.  It’s an ideal place to grab some dinner food and hang out in the middle of nowhere.  I have to say Covell Park definitely impressed for its food and I didn’t expect it in the Midwest.   In my opinion, Covell Park would be a Bib Gourmand if it was a Michelin rated city like Momofuku Ssam Bar.
