Iceland Waterfalls are a must. Iceland is known for its remarkable landscape. There’s nowhere in this world that can match some of Iceland’s beautiful and abundant waterfalls.
The best thing about Iceland is the number of tour companies in Reykjavik offering day tours to some of the famous waterfalls. I’m not much a tour bus type of person cause I like to do things on my own time. However, Iceland’s weather is pretty rough during the winter so I opted for a tour I found on an online website. The online website has a database filled with an array of tour companies offering Iceland Waterfalls tours.

I found this South Iceland Waterfalls tour for less than $100 – Southern Iceland Glaciers, Waterfalls and Beaches Day Tour. It was a deal cause it included hotel pick up and drop off. Trust me. The hotel pick up and drop off is essential when you’re dealing with Iceland’s winter. This is coming from a person who enjoys sleeping with his window wide open during the dead of winter. I’ve experience the Chicago wind chill and the below zero of the Colorado mountains; however, Iceland’s winter puts both to shame.
The best thing about the Iceland Waterfalls tour bus is you could sleep while someone else’s drive. I was ready to do all the sleeping I can after an 18 day Middle East/Eastern Europe vacation. Hence, I didn’t mind booking this tour. It was awesome. Our tour guide was very friendly and he explained all the history of Southern Iceland when we drove by certain areas. He told us how the Southern part of Iceland was completely covered with ash when their volcano erupted.
In addition, he explained how Iceland is the leading nation in the world using thermal power for energy. Furthermore, he also gave us horticulture lesson on how Icelanders grow their food in their extreme weather. It was a very engaging and wonderful. The full-day tour involved the following landmarks:
- Sólheimajökull glaciers
Sólheimajökull - Mýrdalsjökull glaciers
Mýrdalsjökull glaciers - Vik’s Black Sand Beaches
Vik’s Black Sand Beaches - Skogafoss waterfall
Skogafoss waterfall - Seljalandsfoss waterfall
Seljalandsfoss waterfall
After years of seeing pictures online, I was finally able to check Iceland Waterfalls off my bucket list along with other countries in the Middle East. It was a pretty awesome day for me in Iceland outside of sleeping on the morning drive there and taking a nap on the drive back. The Iceland Waterfalls tour is perfect for couples, families and solo travelers. I might a few people on the bus and we had a great time conversing about Iceland. You can check it out here.
