Sanwicheria Pil Y Pil within 50 feet of La Sagrada Família and it makes the perfect place for a wine or beer stop. Was it worth it though? Let’s find out.
Sanwicheria Pil Y Pil is a local’s tapas bar within 50 feet of La Sagrada Família. La Sagrada Família is the Basilicia that started construction in the 1880s and still being completed today. After marveling at La Sagrada Família, Sanwicheria Pil Y Pil is the perfect tapas bar to sit back in the shade to enjoy some tapas, beers and the Gothic architecture of La Sagrada Família.

Pil Y Pil is nothing extravagant or luxurious like Tickets Bar in terms of creativity and notability. It’s a small tapas shop with a bartender and a cook in a fantastic location depending on foot traffic from tourists. I was one of those tourists who happened to want a beer and some tapas to relax after exploring La Sagrada Família.
The bartender and cook were efficient in getting my beers and a single order of snails to my table. However, there was only one other client inside the restaurant, which was a defining indicator of the food quality. The snails and shrimp were drenched in a tomato based sauce. The plump shrimps had a nice texture while the snails were gamy. It wasn’t one of the best tapas I had in Barcelona, but it wasn’t one of the restaurants on my list. It was a spontaneous decision due to my lust and thirst for beer. Barcelona is filled with tapas bars and I wish I could recommend Pil Y Pil. However, I can’t. There are so many good tapas bar in Barcelona to try and they aren’t one of them.
